To Robert Bly - Song Lyrics

To Robert Bly - Copyright 2006 Charles Sjolander

To Robert Bly

Written 1990

Verse 1:
I read a story that seemed a lot like me
some of the things it said and didn't say
at times I had to turn away

Verse 2:
I wrote a story and sang it to the trees
and they all bowed their heads for it was sad
they thanked the world for what they had

Refrain:
so the story goes and flows
and tumbles ever onward like the sea
ride the waves of life
and remember that you are always free

Verse 4:
I shared a story with a few friends of mine
and as the telling went it grew in size
it ended well to no surprise

Verse 5:
I lived a story and rewrote many lines
I relived many things I thought I'd left behind
I even learned to change my mind

Refrain.

I read a story that seemed a lot like me
